Jack Martin the long-time executive secretary of the Indianapolis 500 Old-Timers Club passed away yesterday in Indianapolis. During his career in racing Jack worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, was the racing director for the D-A Lubricants Company, and was the curator of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum during the nineteen eighties.
Jack along with his wife Nan, Duke Nalon, Emil Andres and Junior Dreyer presented the Indy Bench Racing Weekend event for many years. In 2012, Jack was the recipient of the Angelo Angelopolous Award. The Award’s inscription reads "Sports was his life, and sportsmanship his love. Presented to the 500 Race Participant who best exemplifies the Creed of Good Sportsmanship!"  RIP Jack.
