The 30th annual Chili Bowl Nationals

The 30th annual Chili Bowl officially kicks off tonight at the Tulsa (OK) Expo Center with 335 entries racing over four preliminary nights and scoring points which will seed the fields for Saturday's long day of racing, leading up to the 55-lap feature to award the Golden Driller.

While the week of midget auto racing is exciting, the author would like to remind our readers of other four great activities this week associated with the Chili Bowl

- The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame fundraising auction on Thursday (1/14)  at noon Tulsa time at the main grandstand in in the Expo Center in the turn four area. Always lots of great autographed one of a kind items.

- The National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame induction ceremony Friday (1/15) at 11 AM Tulsa time. If you don't have reservations it's too late to join for the banquet, but there will be a display that you can look over before the festivities start. It's in the big building Northeast of Expo Center near the old race track.

- On Saturday morning the 16th at 8 AM, there will be an Old Time racers reunion at the Golden Corral restaurant at 8144 East 21st Street (just east of South Memorial). There is no cost to attend beyond the regular cost to eat at the Golden Corral.
Finally, if you can't get tickets to the Chili Bowl, at least you can attend the Trade Show which opens at 9 AM each day at the Tulsa Expo Center and is free to attend. There are always lots of fun things to see and do in the Trade Show area.
